Date: Wednesday, September 6th, 8:00 PM

    Location: Beach Park

About: Join us for a family-friendly, all-ages cruise starting at Beach Park and following the bike path to the Marketplace. The ride is finished once the group reaches the Marketplace, so make sure you have a plan to get back to where you started! Some like to park at the Marketplace and ride to Beach Park prior to the start of the ride so they may enjoy the rest of the evening without having to ride back.

FYI: California Vehicle Code requires bicyclists under age 18 to wear a helmet. The vehicle code also requires bicycles to have a front facing headlamp and at least a red rear facing reflector when being ridden at night. Its not only the law, but a great way to keep yourself safe!

Ride from Bike Bakersfield at 5 p.m. to Beale Library to view murals and painted utility boxes in the downtown area. After the ride, bikes can be parked inside the library to watch the movie “Dream Rider” at 6 p.m. and view the art on display “Through the Eyes of a Bus Rider” by Edward E. Solis.

In the movie “Dream Rider” a young man loses his leg in a motorcycle accident. While rehabilitating, he takes up cycling and is determined to become the first one-legged person to cycle across the U.S. The movie follows him from his initial rehab through the completion of his historic ride in Boston, detailing all the ups and downs in between.
