Ready to start commuting but don’t know how to navigate traffic? Want to know how to ride safely? Sign up for our Smart Cycling Traffic Skills class.

As part of our educational programs, our Executive Director and League Cycling Instructor Jack Becker is leading a two-day Smart Cycling Course on April 20-21.

*This class is free for Bike Bakersfield Members. If you are not a member, you can sign up for the class and we will contact you about becoming a member for $25.
*Students MUST complete both sessions in one weekend, and must also complete an assessment test before receiving their certification.

Friday 4-7PM for in-class workshop
> 100 Tulare Street, Bakersfield 93305
(Prevention and Community Partnership Building in the large conference room)

Saturday 9 am-2 pm (helmet and bike required)
> 2727 F. Street, Bakersfield 93306 (KHSD Career Resource Department)

You will need to have a fully functional bike and a helmet to participate. If you need help with your bike or obtaining a helmet, make arrangements with Bike Bakersfield before the event.

    Bike Bakersfield is presenting a bike rodeo and bike maintenance day. We teach participants safety skills, to repair and maintain their bike. We will have pumps, bike tubes and other equipment ready to help the kids.

    Come have lunch at Beale Memorial Library and hear a presentation by Bakersfield Police Department. The theme for this event is Crime Prevention, Sharing the Road, Pedestrian and Bike Safety.

    Kids and families who come for lunch at the library can park their bikes with the Bike Bakersfield valet, and have their bike checked to make sure they are safe to ride.

There will be a fun, on-bike course, learning to navigate traffic, driveways and avoid hazards. Youth must bring a functioning bike and helmet to participate.     Bike Bakersfield will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be open for tuneups and volunteers to gain hours towards the recycle-a-bike program.
