Full Moon Ride is Coming Up

08/07/2018 by Bike Bakersfield

Experience a gorgeous Bakersfield night Saturday, Aug. 25, at 8 p.m. while feeling the wind blow as you peddle your bike with friends down Kern River Parkway Trail. Nothing beats the Bike Bakersfield Full Moon Ride nights with friends and family!

All ages and skill levels are encouraged to come. This free ride has been known to attract 100 riders for a fun night of community and recreation. The ride is a comfortable, 10-12 mph pace and welcomes riders of all kinds.

The ride begins at Beach Park at 8 p.m. located at Oak and 21st Street and ends at the Marketplace on 9000 Ming Ave. Bike Bakersfield staff will follow the ride with tools and flat tire repair equipment in the event of a mechanical problem during the ride.

“The colorful bike lights with the backdrop of the Kern River Parkway Trail, with the smiles of all the people riding is a sight you’ve got to see,” said Natalie Barrett, Bike Bakersfield employee.

Lights and helmets are strongly encouraged. The ride will follow the Kern River Parkway Trail west from Beach Park and turn South at CSUB, continue on the bike path through CSUB campus, and end at the Marketplace.

California Vehicle Code requires bicyclists under age 18 to wear a helmet. The vehicle code also requires bicycles to have a front facing headlamp and at least a red rear facing reflector when being ridden at night. It’s not only the law, but a great way to keep yourself safe.
