Bike Bakersfield is hosting a Smart Cycling Course on Thursday, Sept. 27 and Friday, Sept. 28. Both days will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.
Certified cycling instructors will lead the class, covering where to ride and how to manage traffic safely. The class information and structure is a condensed version of the League of American Bicyclists Smart Cycling class. To receive the Smart Cycling certificate you must attend both days and take a written test.
We will be riding on the streets downtown practicing the skills discussed after the safety presentation. You will need a helmet and a working bike for the class. If you need either of these, please come to Bike Bakersfield and we will get you fixed up!
Instead of paying for the course, participants are recommended to become a member of Bike Bakersfield. In addition to receiving the membership benefits, members will be allowed to take their smart cycling quick guides home to keep as a reference.
The class is free for Bike Bakersfield Members. You can become a Bike Bakersfield member here.
