Things you can do to avoid hazards

1. Check your tires and the weather, always. If its raining make sure you have enough tread on your tires and they are not running flat.

2. Take the lane if you need. It is legal. But look over you shoulder for upcoming traffic first.

3. Look around, ahead, and anticipate whats coming at you at least 20 yards ahead of you.

4. Steer perpendicular to get across parallel cracks or railroad tracks. Take them head on or you’ll end up falling.

THINGS TO BE AWARE OF WHILE RIDING

  • loose gravel: avoid slipping by backing off the power, but pedaling through. stay on the saddle and as straight up as possible
  • slick roads: oil, rain even slick paint can make riding slippery
  • potholes: even small ones can be big problems for anyone on wheels
